Offered Training Courses


Macon County EMS is a North Carolina State approved Continuing Education Institution

Macon County EMS is an approved training center for National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)

Macon County EMS has certified instructors for American Heart Association (AHA) courses


We Offer the following courses for lay rescuers:

NAEMT:

First on the Scene (FOTS) Course:
4 hours in length
No cost to attendees
Proof of completion provided


This course covers:
  • Activating the 911 system
  • Hands-only CPR and AED
  • Administering naloxone
  • Administering epinephrine
  • Responding to life-threatening bleeding
  • Penetrating chest trauma
  • Moving patients to safety
  • Positioning injured patients

Information about training staff

Training Officer

  • Maintains state and nationally certified traning center
  • Maintains training center renews employees professional credentials at the national and state levels
  • Sets goals for the training center and acquires supplies for training
  • Holds training for new and current educators for the training center as well as other employees and the public
Field Training Officer
  • Performs in-service and certified training while on shift and between shifts
  • Trains new employees during orientation phases while on shift
  • Mentor students obtaining higher levels of credentialing
Public Educators
  • Instructs classes for lay rescuers at the training center and other sites
  • Instructs in the public at public events throughout the year
  • CPR, AED and First Aid
