Macon County Airport Authority
Minutes of Regular Meeting Held January 30, 2007

The Macon County Airport Authority held its regular meeting on 
January 30, 2007 in its offices located at 1241 Airport Road, 
Franklin, North Carolina.  Chair Gregory called the meeting to order
at 4:11 p.m.  Members Gary Schmitt and Pete Haithcock were absent.  
All other members were present.  Also present were Wayne Corley and 
Steve Walker, Engineers for W.K. Dickson, Neal Hoppe and Peggy Milton,
the airport Fixed Base Operators, Teresa McDowell, Macon County, Mark
Bryson and Jimmy Goodman.

MINUTES:  Upon motion by Member Corbin and seconded by Member Jenkins, 
the minutes of the regular meeting held November 28, 2006 were unanimously
approved.

AGENDA ITEM #3:  CONSIDERATION OF LANDSCAPING OF PARKING LOT MEDIAN:  
Chair Gregory led a discussion about the potential landscaping of the parking
lot median.  The consensus was that Member Corbin will approach the Garden Club
of Franklin to determine if they might be interested in doing this project.

AGENDA ITEM #4:  CONSIDERATION OF LANDSCAPING OF BANK IN FRONT OF PARKING LOT:
Chair Gregory led a discussion about the potential landscaping of the bank 
located in front of the parking area.  Chair Gregory stated he will contact 
Maintenance Supervisor, Steve Ledford regarding landscaping this particular
area.

AGENDA ITEM #5:  LETTER STATING ADDITIONAL WORK:  
ayne Corley of W.K. Dickson presented an additional services letter supplement
that W.K. Dickson had generated regarding paying an additional perimeter 
security fencing invoice in the amount of $3,177.31. Member Corbin stated that
he was uncomfortable with the format of the letter because the signature line
was on an additional page. Chair Gregory stated he will initial the additional
page if the Authority votes to approve the acceptance of the letter. Upon 
motion by Member Jenkins and seconded by Member Corbin, the acceptance of the
Additional Services Letter Supplement was unanimously approved.  Ms. McDowell
will submit copy of signed letter and the subject invoice to the Finance 
Department.  A copy of the letter dated January 9, 2007 and regarding Macon 
County Airport, Franklin, NC - WKD No. 50375.00.CA(A) is attached.

AGENDA ITEM #6:  STATUS OF LETTER REGARDING MACON COUNTY OWNED PROPERTY-CHANGE
OF OWNERSHIP:
Discussion with Macon County Administration will continue in connection with
acquiring the 15.37 acres adjacent to the airport property and which is 
currently owned by Macon County.

AGENDA ITEM #7:  UPDATE ON HANGAR PROJECT:  Member Jenkins stated that he is 
currently waiting on additional information regarding acquiring federal funding
and permission to use it for hangar construction and information regarding 
alternative locations for hangar placement.  This information will be provided
by the Department of Transportation.  This project will move forward upon 
provision of  requested information.   

AGENDA ITEM #8:  OTHER BUSINESS:  
Wayne Corley stated that he had been in contact with John Walker regarding a
potential airport approach system. There is no cost for installation if the FAA
agrees to install the system.  There might be a cost associated with any 
required surveying. Wayne Corley will continue to communicate with John Walker
in hopes that Macon County’s approach installation will be made a priority.

AGENDA ITEM #9:  EXECUTIVE SESSION-CONTRACT MATTER:    
Chair Gregory asked that the members go into executive session to consider a
contract matter.  Member Jenkins made the motion which was seconded by Member
Corbin and passed by unanimous vote.

Member Jenkins moved to re-convene in open session.  Member Corbin seconded 
this motion and it passed unanimously.  Member Gregory announced that no action
was taken in executive session.

There being no further business, Chair Gregory adjourned the meeting.
