Prenatal Clinic
Medical care is provided for pregnant women by an obstetrical health care team. Charges are based on income and appointments are required. The pregnant woman will receive education and information appropriate to her stage of pregnancy and needs. Referrals are made as indicated.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant seek care early. We provide pregnancy testing and counseling. Quit smoking, drinking alcohol and drug use if you think you may be pregnant. Take a multiple vitamin with folic acid for at least three months before you get pregnant to help reduce the risk of serious birth defects. Eat the right foods, your baby eats what you eat. While you are pregnant, exercise can make you feel better, make your muscles stronger and help to reduce problems.

Q: How will I pay for my care?
A: MCPHC can assist you to apply for Medicaid for Pregnant Women (MPW) or the Baby Love Program. Even if you have never been eligible for medical assistance before, you may find that you qualify.
Q: When am I due?
A: This depends on when the first day of your last menstural period was. The RN who explains the results of your pregnancy test can help to determine the estimated date that your baby is due.
Q: How soon can I be seen?
A: After you have a positive pregnancy test you will be given an appointment to return for your blood work, history and certification for WIC. This is usually no more than a few days wait. The Doctor is here every week. Remember, the earlier you begin your prenatal care, the better chance you will have of having a healthy baby.
Q: Can I bring my Husband/Boyfriend/Mother with me to my visits?
A: Yes, we welcome family involvement and support and are glad to work with you to schedule your appointment so they can attend.
Q: How often will I be seen?
A: Appointments are scheduled every 4 weeks until the 28th week then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks then weekly until delivery. If there is a problem we will schedule sooner or as needed.

Maternity Care Coordination
Medicaid eligible pregnant women receive periodic visits with a Registered Nurse. The nurse provides help in understanding Medicaid benefits; assistance in obtaining medical care, WIC, and transportation services; and education on childbirth preparation and parenting. A newborn home visit and evaluation is also encouraged.

Childbirth, Breastfeeding & Parenting Classes
These classes are offered several times each year by our staff of nurses and health
educators, as well as guest physicians. Call for the class date that will best fit your needs.
There is a charge for the childbirth and parenting classes; however, fees may be covered by Medicaid
or insurance.
Breast pump rentals are available at a modest fee - call for details
